Southbury, Connecticut drives tourism to Historic District with brochures

Southbury, Connecticut, is promoting its Historic District via a brochure printing campaign, which will help guide both residents and tourists around the locale. Nine local businesses helped support the initiative, resulting in the creation of 1,800 brochures.

Residents and visitors to the town can pick up a brochure at the Library Reference Desk, the Town Clerk’s Office and the Historical Society Museum at the Old Town Hall in Southbury. They are also available at a variety of local businesses that agreed to support the brochure printing campaign.

“When we designed the brochures, we envisioned that they would be an attractive marketing tool for area businesses”, said Ed Edelson, historic preservation coordinator for Southbury in a statement. “Enough room was left on the cover to allow businesses to include their name, logo and contact information. In return for providing them with the brochure, the businesses agreed to have half of the printed brochures placed in town locations.”

Brochure printing campaigns are frequently leveraged by towns to promote tourism. For example, two Arizona-based towns recently teamed up to launch a $15,000 effort to entice more visitors to the region.
