USPS continues efforts to revive direct mail marketing with extension of “Forever” postage

In an effort to breathe life into direct mail and encourage more consumers and companies to utilize the United States Postal Service, the USPS is extending its "Forever" postage stamp to a variety of postal packages.

Forever Priority Mail packaging will include three types of flat rate envelopes and three separate sizes of flat rate boxes. Once the parcels are purchased, they can be used for all shipments, even if postage rates increase.

"By offering Forever postage on Priority Mail Flat Rate packaging, customers now have the convenience of a prepayment option that establishes an even simpler way to ship," said Gary Reblin, vice president of domestic products for USPS, in a statement to the press. "It takes the overall value of Flat Rate shipping to a new level."

According to Post&Parcel, by extending the Forever postage concept to Priority Mail, the USPS hopes to boost its volumes. Recently, the USPS has been pushing the benefits of direct mail to consumers and firms with efforts such as an advertising and marketing campaign and a quick response code initiative set to roll out this summer.
