The right information can help with direct mail

Getting the right information about customers ahead of a direct mail marketing campaign can be tough, even for the most seasoned marketing professional. Learning about what sort of messages are likely to get the best response rate.

Sometimes, organizations will give away this treasured information on sector consumers through contests. The Motorcycle Industry Council recently gave away the details on known riders in its “Revive Your Ride! Fall Giveaway.” The winning company was a dealership in Kendalville, Indiana, which gained access to valuable information. Among the details it received was what type of bikes a person had previously bought, addresses and names.

The head of the MIC’safter market division, Cam Arnold, said the promotion would help those looking to sell more products. He said that more the people that learned about a business, the better the chances were to make a sale.

“It’s another good way to bump up customer traffic, it supports new product introductions, helps move older product, encourages customers to come in for end-of-season service, holiday offers and much, much more,” said Cam Arnold.
