Study: QR codes seen more frequently

A recent study revealed that quick response code are gaining popularity in stores around New England, as more retailers rely on the printed material to better engage with consumers.

Marketing firm Nellymoser revealed that of the more than 700 stores in its survey, 23 had at least one QR code on its premises, and seven of those featured the barcodes on their front windows.

As more people use mobile phones for business transactions, marketers are taking notice.

"Retailers are using QR codes as part of a mobile strategy that extends beyond the brick-and-mortar store location. Many stores have designed their own iPhone and/or Android apps that can be downloaded in one step via QR codes," the company stated. "In most cases, these apps go beyond providing basic product information and include styling advice, loyalty programs, social media or check-in incentives."

When businesses leverage technological advances along with traditional forms of marketing such as brochures, the results will likely be positive. Showing customers that their business is important is a key step to increasing profits.
