The United States Postal Services seems to be doing all it can these days to boost direct mail usage, and these initiatives could prove to be a great boon to businesses.
In addition to its recent initiatives offering discounts for mailers with quick response codes and simplified regulations for saturation mailing, Post&Parcel writes that the USPS is launching a market trial called "Mail Works Guarantee."
To be eligible, companies must spend at least $250 million per year on advertising, but must currently be using less than 0.36 percent of that budget on postage, the source notes.
As part of the trial, companies will then be required to mail between 500,000 and 1 million pieces of direct mail over a maximum of two years to receive a refund up to $250,000 if the businesses fail to meet their objectives.
"This will create new volume for the Postal Service. Each of the companies selected will pay the list prices for current products just like any other mailer and will only receive a refund if their use of the mail does not result in a specifically defined benefit to their company," the USPS said when filing with the Postal Regulatory Commission, according to Post & Parcel.
